Workshop - Camera Lucida
Optical instruments applied to the drawing
The camera lucida is an optical device, used as an aid to drawing, which allows to visualize, through a pair of lenses, both the drawing and the subject at the same time.
It consists of a black box, with two mirrors inside that will allow you to capture a real image and project it onto your drawing sheet providing a great help for the perspective rendering of the scene.
Through the instructions you will be able to reproduce everything you need to compose at home a prototype camera lucida and be able to make portraits using an artistic technique also used by great painters between the fifteenth and nineteenth century to make even more realistic subjects represented.
