THE VENUES OF MATERA 2019

The Open Design School is launching a workshop to design and build a stage system for the events of Matera 2019, European Capital of Culture.

According to the Public Call for the establishment of an open list of experts, the Open Design School will select a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 professionals to be part of this project workgroup.

RATIONALE ODS

The Open Design School is one of the pillar projects of Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019.

The Open Design School is not a school. It will serve as a systematic tool for community-based skills growth, where learning takes place through a continuous creative exchange process between art, science, and technology. It is a horizontal platform, an interdisciplinary experiment space, with no rigid hierarchies, where everyone learns from each other, in a climate of mutual enrichment.

The ODS will design and produce the necessary infrastructure for the implementation of the 2019 Matera and Basilicata cultural program (stages, signage, lighting, urban furniture, temporary structures).

The team will be coordinated by Joseph Grima, director of the Open Design School.

English is the official language of the school. 

PROJECT THEME

Context analysis of the 2019 locations (closed spaces, open spaces, public spaces, etc.). Map out the physical, environmental and functional features. Identify the trajectories, urban routes and regional routes of particular interest. Creation of a participatory map with the Open Street Map.

WHO ARE LOOKING FOR

The workgroup will be composed of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 professionals to be selected from the following areas of specialization (check Public Call for the establishment of an open list of experts, Annex 1 Specialization areas and income ranges):

• architects ⦋cat.E09⦌
• landscape architects ⦋cat.E09⦌
• information designer ⦋cat.E10⦌
• visual designer ⦋cat.E11⦌
• photographer, film-maker ⦋cat.E11⦌

The participants will be approximately 1/3 from Matera and Basilicata, 1/3 from the rest of Italy and 1/3 from abroad.

WHAT WE OFFER

A gross fee of € 3.000 + IVA and/or social and fiscal contribution under the responsibility of Foundation Matera-Basilicata 2019, to be paid on a monthly basis.
