Open Design School, Matera 2019 pillar project, in collaboration with EU-Japan Fest, hosts Gakutoshi Kojima, the Japanese architect who in 1974 participated in the 'International Competition for the Recovery of the Rioni Sassi' with an innovative approach to the theme of setting up historic centers on the occasion of major events, proposing modular and temporary structures that have significantly inspired the activities of the Open Design School.
The meeting will be attended by Paolo Verri, Director of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation; Raffaello De Ruggieri, Mayor of the City of Matera; Antonella Guida, Coordinator of DiCEM's Architecture Course - UniBas; Lorenzo Rota, Architect; Leo De Finis, President of the Order of Architects of Matera; Saverio Acito, responsible for the implementation of law 771/86 for the recovery of the Rioni Sassi.
On 06 and 07 May, moreover, starting at 15:00 in the premises of the Complex of the Casale, it will be possible to participate in a design workshop held by the same Kojima together with the Open Design School: the aim of the workshop will be the elaboration of a concept for the construction of a "diffused theater" in the area between San Pietro Barisano and San Pietro Caveoso. Access is free.
