Mapping Basilicata

Mapping Basilicata

The mapping project of Matera has yielded more than 200 places of which we have seen the potential and cataloged the characteristics to host the events that will animate the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
After sitting at the table to analyze the work done and after submitting it to the project leaders of Matera 2019 and to citizenship to find room for improvement, we decided it was the right time to resume our cards and leave for a new journey.
This second phase of our mapping project takes us on the roads of Basilicata, in a path partly indicated by the regional project leaders, to discover those centers of culture and creativity that connect the European Capital of Culture with the whole territory.
If mapping the urban outskirts has given us greater awareness of their possible reuse, becoming containers of multiple cultural functions, intervening in the Lucan territory provides us with even greater awareness than it is not sufficient to act only in the historical centers of the capitals.
The cultural poles disseminated in our region have a fundamental function of indicating the expectations and potential of these areas.
Our path, which has already touched Montescaglioso, Marconia, Miglionico, Castelmezzano, Anzi, and leads us to Potenza and beyond, aims to recreate a network of centers of interest in Basilicata, physically and virtually reconnecting them to over 200 already present on our map.
